Volunteer FAQs

How do I sign-up?

Please read the volunteer handbook, and submit your application by downloading the form and bringing to our office, or clicking on the Online Volunteer Application in the main menu above. We will contact you by phone or email to set up an appointment for orientation. After we conduct your orientation, you will be able to sign up for volunteering shifts that work with your schedule..

What should I wear?

You will be working mostly outdoors, so dress appropriately for the weather. Closed-toed shoes are REQUIRED (sneakers, boots, etc). Clothing must be appropriate for working in a therapeutic setting (i.e., no revealing clothes, suggestive slogans), please note that clothing may get stained.   This is a dusty environment, so please wear clothing and footwear that can get dirty.

What hours can I volunteer? â€‹

We generally need volunteers Monday-Friday from 10am-8pm and Sundays from 9am-3pm. We also need volunteers outside of these times for feedings and events. You are not required to volunteer for a certain amount of hours, however, we ask that you inform instructors how long you plan on volunteering so we can schedule our sessions accordingly.

Can I ride the horses or work in exchange for ride time?

We offer occasional volunteer ride days when possible, but our horses' physical health always takes precedence; they perform a great deal of work each week and we don't want to overextend them. We do not allow volunteers to school our horses or ride outside of supervised volunteer ride days.
